Awesome looking book……..how can I post this on facebook to spread the word for you……..Congratulations
Melissa!
Sorry it took so long to reply to you. I just figured out I had a comment on my site!
I would love for you to post it on facebook! Just copy and paste this: http://thekeytotakingpictures.com/ in your “share” box and the link and picture will automatically come up. Thank for the support! I appreciate it.
Hope all is well with you. Are you still thinking of going to Yellowstone anytime soon?
Katie, I will post it in the Photography Circle on G+. There is 499 people, from all levels in there. You RALLY need to add G+ with the Facebook and Twitter links. It is bigger than people think.
Katie this book looks amazing. You are very talented and I love your pictures. Thanks for sharing your talent with the rest of us so we too can have amazing pictures to treasure forever.
Your book looks incredible. . .I found it via this blog http://brassyapple.blogspot.com/
I only wish I would have come upon it sooner! I just bought a very small ebook for $10, but would rather have your by the looks of it.
Love IT!!! Can’t wait to get a copy! Saw you on ruffles and stuff and I am glad I saw it!
Katie…..Is it possible to download the book and view on my computer or do I have to have an ereader?
Hi Whitney!
It’s a pdf file so yes, you can download it and view it on your computer.
I think that I must be blind, but I can’t find where I can purchase the actual book and not the e-book. Can you please set me straight. I can’t wait to get a copy of this!!
Thanks,
Jen
P.s. You are so talented!
Hi Jen!
I don’t have it available in print form yet. I may have some in the future but for now it’s only available in pdf.
No your’re not blind!
Hi! I have a great camera, and I know how to take great pictures, but have been looking for a book on photoshop. I know a lot about photoshop already, but I would LOVE to know even more and get some tips from some professional photographers. Does your e-book have any information about photoshop? Thanks!
Hi Bailee,
Yes, my book has some info on photoshop but if you’re wanting more info specifically just on photoshop I would probably go with a different book. I use Adobe Lightroom myself so I walk the reader through all my edits in Lightroom and then I tell them how to do it in Photoshop Elements.
Scott Kelby’s book The Adobe Photoshop CS5 Book for Digital Photographers is an excellent place to start for photographers who want to learn more about photoshop. I’ve used photoshop for years for graphic design and still learned quite a bit from his books.
Thanks for the recommendation, Dawn! I love Scott Kelby’s books. I have the one he wrote about Lightroom.
I wll share on fb too.. this looks fabulous! hugs xo
Exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’m a Mom of 6 and don’t have the time to try to figure this out on my own or take a class. Love your pictures and can’t wait to get this book. (I learned about your book from the MADE site.)
I would love this book. I just started to get into to photography, and this seems like a good place to start.
I would love to have this book, it looks fascinating. I’m going to post on my FB too!
Katy, Thank you so much!!! I would LOVE for you to post it on FB!
Just after a few pictures I was very impressed – I don’t have a DSLR but do have a great point and shoot with manual settings that I love to use – I noticed Mike’s Pastry and knew that you were in a good place and being in Texas just said more – Would love to see more of the book- having twin grand-daughters and taking pictures is a challenge
Cathy
I came here from Maryjanes and Golashes and would love to buy your book but I have a Panasonic Lumix. Is it going to be hard for me to translate the information to my camera?
Hi Alison,
I’m not completely familiar with the Panasonic Lumix but from what I just researched it looks like it has the capability of changing lenses, changing the aperture and ISO. Is that correct? If that is true I think you will be just fine with the book. In my book I do go over how to get a proper exposure but I also go into detail about how to compose a picture, what kinds of lighting to look for and how to edit your photos which which will translate to any given camera.
Does that answer your question?
I just added this site to my favorites. I really like reading your posts. Thank you!
Hey curious if the e-book is going to be available for Nooks.. I can’t find it when searching for it and i REALLY want it
Let me know thanks!!
I love, love to read your book. I do have an DSLR camera, but I would LOVE to learn how to get great pictures. I do want to learn how to take great pictures inside of a gym with all of their terrible lighting. I saw your book on Crafting Chicks!
I would love to order a book, but do not have a PayPal account. Can I mail you a check?
What a great book. I owuld love to have a copy.
Oh gosh…I soooooo NEED this book! I take photos for my buisness and am having the WORST time with lighting….really looks like an AWESOME book!
Katie,
If I purchase this, can I take the PDF file to Staples/office depot/kinkos to have them print it out and bind it for me? Just wanted to check if that was something permissable from you.
Yes, you have my permission to get it printed. THank you so much for asking! I’m looking into having the book available in printed form but until then anyone is allowed to print it themselves.
Thank you for the discount code in the Clickin’ Moms newsletter!!! I can’t wait to dig in to your book.
Dawn
Just bought the book, looking forward to it.
WOW! Got the link from Clickin Moms. Used the discount code. Downloaded the e-book. Read it “virtual cover-to-virtual cover”. FANTASTIC resource! After nearly 2-years of trial & error, I know enough wrong information that your concise explanations are turning on light bulbs all over my little brain!!!
Super excited to get out & shoot. Most excited the book can go with me everywhere my computer goes…which is everywhere I bring my camera! Thanks for your generosity in sharing the information. Just upgraded from PSE9 to Lightroom 3 two weeks ago, so all your suggestions will be implemented immediately!
I am a new owner of a Canon 600D DSLR camera and would love to read your book. I would Like to learn how to get great pictures. I really like what I saw in “No Big Dills – Review”.
hello, and excuse my english …cause I’m french and I dont speak often your language!
I would like to buy your e-book but I don’t know if it’s possible to pay with €?
As far as I know paypal accepts the euro!
someone mentioned sending this to be printed 4×6 to carry around, the files are pdf, where can i send that? do i have to convert all to jpg?
Hi Michele!!
I know you can send a pdf file to Fedex Knkos or probably any printing company can print a pdf. It’s actually in 8.5×11 format.
This book is just what I’ve been looking for! Thanks for sharing!

I just don’t know how to buy the book for someone else or if that’s even possible!!! any help you can give me would be FANTASTIC!
Hi Elyssa!

Hi Renee!
I just emailed you a copy of the book but for some reason the email was sent back to me, undeliverable. Would you please send me an email so that I know I have your correct address? My email is katie_perkes@yahoo.com
I look forward to hearing from you!
Katie
Hello Katie,
I just bought your book but not sure how am I gonna recieve it.I got so excited that I thought I am buying a book. Anyway,I posted a question on your facebook page.
Thanks for sending my book! I forwarded the link to my sister. I hope she will buy it.
I want the hard copy now! I still have not print out my e-copy..is this something I can refund to buy the hard copy???
I most definitely follow your blog (and would love love love a copy of your book…baby #1 is on his way, and I need to figure out what I’m doing!).
Love the easy to understand, logical, Lot’s of examples format!
I ran across the review on Grossgrain’s blog. I will be purchasing!
I can affirm all the comments about how this book is such a gift of information done in a simple format. I have attended classes, read books, taken my camera off of auto a dozen times but truthfully never really left the safe nest of auto. I always returned back because of feeling frustrated with my photos and never REALLY knew what I was doing. But, my thanks to you for FINALLY giving me a starting point. Your ‘this is what I do’ approach is just what I needed. So many books are focused on teaching you everything you need to know about photography. It usually proved to be overwhelming. Your book gave me a place to jump from the nest with some wings so I can start to get some air time. I can actually say I am starting to get to know my camera and can adjust my settings to eventually get the results I saw in my minds eye….maybe even better than I hoped a few times. Finally, thank you for the post when you shared how you just have to keep taking pictures. I continue to remind myself of that good advice. I have this wonderful camera and it is such a thrill to finally feel like I am finding my way! I am ready to read your sequel!
Jessie,
Thank you so much for your kind words. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to know that you have really learned and benefitted from my book. YAY!!! That was my number one goal in writing it, I wanted to make it easy to understand. Success!!
I’m excited to.purchase this book. What confused one says ln sale til 12.31 and then 11.30. And prices are different how much is hardcover. Thanks
Hi Arianne! Sorry for the confusion with the book sale! Okay so here’s the breakdown: The ebook is on sale for $25 until December 31st. The hard copy is on sale for $40 until Nov. 30th using the discount code NOVBOOKS11. Here’s where the confusing part may be…Once you order the ebook you get a special link to order the hardcopy for 30% off PLUS you can use the discount code NOVBOOKS11 to get ANOTHER 20% off the book making the hardcopy $27. The hardcopy sale is good until Nov. 30th. Please let me know if you are still confused! Thanks for your interest in my book!
~Katie
I found you through The Potter’s Place blog and I finally got your book. What is the best way to print the ebook? I am so excited and I want to print it so I can put it in my camera bag for reference and I am not sure how I should print it off.
Thanks,
Nancy
Hi Nancy! Thanks for buying my book! I formatted the book to be 8.5×11 so it can just be printed using a personal home printer. You can also send the file to a print shop to get it printed. (I would call ahead to check their prices first!) I hope this helps! Have a wonderful holiday!
~Katie
Hi! I want to buy a copy of your ebook and a hardcopy-(w/discount) but it looks like they are from two different sites? Do i need to buy the ebook first, and then get a different discount code to get the hardcopy for cheaper? How does this work? Help! I am a little clueless… thanks so much! Krista
kristajoyfarrell@gmail.com (could you email me pretty please?)
Hi Krista!
Thanks for your interest in my book! Sorry the deal is so confusing… Okay, so yes, you buy the ebook and the hard copy from two different places. To take advantage of the hard copy deal, buy the ebook first and in your “thank you” message after you buy the ebook you will receive a link to buy the hard copy at 30% off but ALSO use the discount code NOVBOOKS11 on top of the 30% off to receive the hard copy for $28. Does that make sense? Please let me know if I need to clarify any further. Have a wonderful holiday!
~Katie
I just ordered your book! I recently purchased a Canon Rebel, but I’ve been too nervous to start using it. Hopefully, your book will give me the tips I need!
Hi there! I’m so glad you ordered my book! I’m excited for you to start reading it. I know this will help you immensely to get the pictures you want! Have a wonderful holiday season.
~Katie
Hi,
So I am easily confused, and just want to clarify. For the bonus savings, do I have to order the eBook as well as the hardcover?
Hi Jamie!
Sorry, it is a bit confusing! Yes, you have to order the ebook first in order to get the bonus savings on the hard copy. Once you order the ebook you will be sent a special link to receive the bonus discount. Please let me know if it’s still confusing!
How do I purchase your book?
Thanks
Hi Kristin!
Here is a link to buy the ebook version: https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/gb.php?c=cart&i=923049&cl=164831&ejc=2
And a link to buy the hard copy: https://www.lulu.com/commerce/index.php?fBuyProduct=16594958&productTrackingContext=shopping_cart/recently_viewed/center_middle/1
Let me know if you have any further questions!
I stumbled upon your blog a while back and have been following it ever since. I love your photo tips and great pictures! I am a young mom who dabbles in photography and I have a question about photo editing. I see that you do your editing on Lightroom but that program is super expensive for a SAHM who just takes photos as a hobby. Do you have any other recommendation for a photo editing program? Thanks so much!
HI Jenna! Another program that works well is Photoshop Elements. It’s only $76 on Amazon. I hope this helps! Here’s the link: http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-65136385-Photoshop-Elements-10/dp/B005MMMT6E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328044824&sr=8-1
thru march 4, lightroom is 1/2 price thru the adobe website. if you qualify for the eudcation pricing (teacher, student, homeschool), or know someone who does, you can get lightroom for $89!
Thanks for the tip, Jennifer!! I’ll post this on my FB page and let people know!
Just found your blog! It’s great!
How much would s&h to Germany be?!
Would love the book…
Greetings!
Hello there, Heidi!
As of right now I’m not shipping overseas, however you if you buy the ebook you have my permission to get it printed out. The pages are in an 8.5×11 format–standard copy paper size. I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for your interest and have a wonderful day!!
~katie
I’ve just got your book today! Its a really cool!
Just bought our first DSLR last night – Nikon D3100, and ordered your book today upon a friend’s recommendation! I can’t wait to get started!
I just bought your book! Can’t wait to get it!
I’ve been spreading the word too! Brassy Apple sent me!
Thanks, Kelly!! I appreciate the support!
Can I get this deal if shipping to Australia?
Hi Sue!
Unfortunately at this time my distributor only ships to the US and Canada. I will be doing a holiday sale where you can purchase just the electronic versions on the books. Stay posted…
Hi
I’m keen to purchase your Black Friday deal – but noticed once you ‘Add to Cart’ there is only the option to have it sent to America or Canada. Is there any way of having this delivered to the UK?
Many thanks
Susie
Hi Susie!
Unfortunately at this time my distributor only ships to the US and Canada. I will be doing a holiday sale where you can purchase just the electronic versions on the books. Stay posted…
~Katie
I’ve hesitated on getting your book for quite awhile since I don’t have a DSLR. I have an older film SLR I haven’t used in years since I got a point and shoot digital but I thought the book might just help me improve my overall picture taking and I’ll be ready when I finally do get that DSLR so I ordered it today (an early Christmas present from my Husband!) since it’s a great deal! Thanks for the deal and I look forward to learning from it!
HI Jennifer!
Wonderful! I’m excited for you to get the books and learn. Let me know if you have any further questions!
~Katie
Katie, Thank you so much for this awesome Black Friday deal!! My very good friend got a DSLR in April and I have been offering to show her how to use it but she never takes me up on my offer, i think she feels that i am too busy. I am giving this to her for christmas and sewing her a camera strap to go with it. I have been drooling over how beautiful this book looks and the info is fantastic, i just wish i needed it. (I studied photography in college and taught it for 6 years and have a little side business taking pics for friends) so thank you for this awesome deal so my friend can take some better pics and stop complaining that she doesn’t know how to use her camera
I just found one on your site and it ends today! Had to hurry and get my book! Woohoo!
